Dr. Lemstra Provides Keynote Address at World Congress on Obesity

Dr. Mark Lemstra recently provided the Keynote Address at the 6th World Congress on Obesity, held in Toronto Canada.

Dr. Lemstra's speech was titled Weight-loss intervention adherence levels and factors promoting adherence.

Dr. Lemstra could be a weighty Saskatchewan Government Ally

Mark Lemstra has been a vocal and effective health critic of the Saskatchewan Party government — especially its John Black and Associates (JBA) $40-million-plus lean investment.

But as it now stands, Lemstra could be one of the government’s greatest health-care allies in demonstrating there is a role for the private sector in health-care delivery — especially when it comes to preventative medicine.

Alliance expands Healthy Weights Initiative to Regina

The Healthy Weights Initiative, which launched in Moose Jaw two years ago, begins next week in Regina. 

"This one is different," says Dr. Mark Lemstra. "It’s not just a diet. It’s not just an exercise program." Instead, the HealthWeights Initiative is a four-pronged approach to achieving a healthy weight.

In Moose Jaw, where more than 500 people have been through the program so far, Lemstra said 80 per cent finished the program, compared with 14 per cent who stick with traditional weight-loss programs.
